goals: She wants to get into a good college, get published in a literary magazine, and visit Greece again.
fears: Junie is terribly afraid of the idea of wide, unobstructed open spaces. It makes her feel lost and insecure. She's also afraid of people discovering what she is truly like, and seeing past her reputation.
secrets: She is secretly a very creative and imaginative person, who appreciates arts and humanites, and is quite a talented writer.
clique(s): the populars
overall persona: Junie, ever the maverick and a laughing trickster, is a trouble-maker and a hopeless flirt. Loner, wanderer, heart breaker, and wise ass. You'll either love her or hate her, there is no in between. She is maddening and fascinating and intolerably annoying. She is a woman of action. She likes to talk to just about anyone who will stand still long enough, and loves to trade stories with either strangers or close friends. Learning whatever there is to learn is a favorite hobby of hers, as she is a very inquisitive sort of person, but she can also get to talking and rambling quite a lot if you let her. But behind her outgoing persona lies a sleepless mind and an insatiable curiosity.
When she goes off like that, many may find her boring, or immature. She is more than a little childish, and is viewed by many as an innocent, though she is more than a little selfish and vain. Junie is the sort of person who feels that she has to be good at whatever she does. She will quickly attempt to master whatever subject or trade you can throw at her, and strive to be the very best. She's definitely a type A personality. She cares only for things that are of practical use to her and, though she is quite imaginative, she feels that filling his head with information about things that don't directly effect her is a useless waste of time. She has no deep-rooted beliefs or superstitions about anything, and believes that that makes him stronger.
She knows full well that she is charming and witty, charismatic, manipulative, and intelligent. She's friendly and outgoing and loves to talk to new people. She's a devilish little imp, through and through, with an anarchist spirit. She'll say that he doesn't cause trouble, that it just finds her, but.... It would be a lie to say that she didn't enjoy it. She's always doing whatever it takes to get attention. Many people view her as arrogant and obnoxious, and others find it endearing. On the inside, however, though she puts on a front for her peers to stay the Queen Bee, she actually resents them all for having so little care about academics and art. She takes out her frustration by taking every opportunity for trouble that comes her way.
She has always had a sharp tongue, and has never failed to make his opinions on things crystal clear. It is widely believed that she is genuinely unafraid of everything, though she would probably disagree. Though she has a bit of a short fuse and can be somewhat stubborn, she has a strong sense of right and wrong. Her conscience keeps him from causing any real harm to anyone. Either way, she thinks a lot of herself. But really, she is very easily influenced, and do just about whatever it takes to keep her peers happy.
, whoopidee, she's so much more good lookin than me !
mother: Cassandra Mynoreta Skarlatos , 40 , Medical Doctor
father: James Skarlatos , 40 , Chef
siblings: Nicholas, 20, University Student;; Julia, 12
other family: too large to count
children: none
birthplace: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
date of birth: July 8th
overall history: Junie was born one summer up north in Philadelphia to a relatively wealthy Greek couple who had recently moved to the country. They already had a three year old boy, by the name of Nicholas, and were both currently still enrolled in school at the time. They were able to support themselves because James' father was a wealthy businessman who helped to support them as they finished school and started a family. Jim went to a renowned culinary school, while Cassandra was studying to become a doctor. The children were left with a hired maid during their busy times. And before long, they were both making their own revenue. June and Nicholas, being their first son and daughter, were given everything they wanted. And their third child to follow five years later, Julia, received the same.
June's childhood was a remarkable one, to say the very least. Her family took weekend trips to Washington D.C., to Boston, to New York City, visiting the museums and art galleries all along the north eastern coast. They took several trips to every other part of the country as well, but by far her most memorable experiences those gained from her many summers spent in coastal Greece with her grandparents. Of course she's visited many other countries as well. She's taken the Grand Tour. But those nights dancing on the Mediterranean beaches with her relatives really stood out from anything else.
Of course the children were given a top notch education very early on. Only the finest tutors were acceptable. And a one-on-one education can really have an effect. But that was never enough for June. She wanted to socialize with children her own age, other than the few who were dragged along to the various parties that her parents threw or attended. You see, being the perceptive little rascal that she was, Juniper had taken notice of her mother's tenacity and power as a respected doctor. And she also noticed the strange effect that it had on men, including her own father. It made them incredibly uneasy. The were visibly intimidated. And her father, feeling insecure in his own position as man of the house, often felt obliged to harass and degrade his wife in whatever form happened to be convenient at the time.
Horrible rows and shouting matches became the norm. The two parents looked for any excuse to avoid each others company, refusing to get a divorce, because it wouldn't "look good." James had several affairs, and June knew about it the entire time. This development particularly horrified her. She knew. And her siblings did as well, but they would just assume ignore it all. She was never one to simply ignore anything. And was from her observances of men that led to her desire to learn how to properly interact with others and go to a well respected boarding school in order to start a career and support herself, coupled with the fact that she could no longer stand her environment, that she demanded to be sent away. After several fits of rage and pleading, her parents finally agreed to send her to McCready.
At McCready, Juniper has made quite a name for herself. Feeling that her love of arts and wilder flights of fancy would get her nowhere, she quickly put on the front of the traditional ignorant rich girl to gain approval. And wouldn't you know, it worked like a charm. Within her freshmen year, she was quickly accepted by the group of popular girls. Particularly when they found out her wealthy and influential her family was. Through flattering the right people, breaking the right rules, and kissing the right asses, she worked her way to the top. The former queen bee recently graduated, and the rest of the group has desperately turned to her. Despite her wild nights and laissez-faire attitude, Juniper has also made excellent grades so far, and is doing more than well for herself. And yet, despite her immense popularity (virtually everyone on campus and in town knows her name), she remains single. Oh, she dates, and all that. But, thanks to her secret love of the arts, she lives by a quote she once read in Charles Dickens' Great Expectations, spoken by Miss Havisham to her daughter, "You can break his heart."
